New residents to Kansas have a 90-day grace period to obtain a Kansas drivers license. Those who hold valid, current licenses from another state are usually only required to present acceptable proof of identity, proof of age if applicable, and pass the eye examination. In Kansas, instruction permits can be issued to applicants who are 14 years old, although parental consent is required for those under the age of 16. Within 90 days of establishing residency in Kansas, newcomers are required to register and title all vehicles. It will be necessary to visit one of the VIN inspection stations before bringing the vehicle and title to the county treasurer’s motor vehicle office. Bring VIN verification and proof of automobile insurance as well as the original out-of-state title to the county treasurer. If a lien holder is holding your title in the other state, request a copy of the title to be faxed to the treasurer's office. Counties impose a mill levy for personal property taxes on automobiles as well as other applicable fees for registration and titling. New residents are required to apply immediately for a Missouri drivers license. The most common documents used as proof of identity are an out-of-state driver license and a social security card. Additional proof of identity and/or proof of social security number may be required if the license office clerk has a need for further verification. Those who hold a valid, current license from another state must pass written and eye exams, although driving tests are only required for first-time applicants or those whose licenses have expired.
New residents are required to register and title all vehicles immediately. Bring proof of ownership, including a notarized lien release if the assigned certificate of ownership shows a lien that has been released. A vehicle safety inspection not more than 60 days old will be required with the exception of new motor vehicles that have not been previously titled. New residents who did not reside in Missouri in the previous year must obtain a "statement of non-assessment" from their county assessor. Proof of financial responsibility, usually in the form of an automobile insurance card, is also required.
