Tarrytown, NY Overview

Tarrytown is a village in the town of Greenburgh in Westchester County located on the eastern bank of the Hudson River.  At the 2000 census the population was 11,090.  Harmonizing serenity with convenience, Tarrytown is just 40 minutes from midtown Manhattan via express train.  This legendary and very beautiful village boasts several landmarks including Marymount campus of Fordham University, Lyndhurst, a Gothic Revival mansion formerly owned by Jay Gould, Sunnyside, the historic home of author Washington Irving, and Tarrytown Music Hall, one of the oldest surviving theatres in Westchester County.  Tarrytown is home to a variety of different housing types and styles, condo and coop developments, single family homes and multi-million-dollar mansions and estates, which are graced by mature greenery and many command river vistas from beautiful neighborhoods.  Recreational activities are dominated by boating and water sports.  Other amenities include facilities for golf, tennis, sports league play, swimming, and winter sports from sledding to skiing.  The downtown district offers a collection of antique shops and several fine restaurants.
