Mahwah Township has developed in five distinctive sections and covers 26 square miles, characterized as a suburban community that is well situated to take advantage of picturesque views of the Ramapo Mountains and the Ramapo River on its northwestern border.  The township provides tranquil, tree-shaded neighborhoods as well as a swimming lake and a golf course.  Mahwah is better known as “Bergen County’s Parkland” and encompasses several state and county parks and reservations that cover nearby 5,000 acres.  Major thoroughfares that serve this area include Interstate 287, Route 17, and the Garden State Parkway.  Commuter bus and train service are available to New York City.
