Richmond area youth enjoy a strong network of public and private schools, vocational and technical schools, community colleges, career institutions and highly respected four-year colleges and universities. Computer instruction begins at the grade-school level, preparing the leaders of tomorrow for a high-tech, competitive working environment. Enhanced by a strong support system of business and parental involvement, area schools are able to set and meet high standard.

 

A spirit of cooperation is the hallmark of the educational system in Greater Richmond. Resources like the locally funded Mathematics-Science Center serves multiple area school systems with outstanding programs and resources. Each county and the City of Richmond operate an autonomous school system, offering federally funded preschool programs like Title I and Head Start as well as programs for the gifted and challenged. Extra-curricular opportunities are diverse and abundant, encouraging the full expression and development of our most precious resource, our children.
