Great Neck Estates is a small village in the town of North Hempstead, on the Great Neck Peninsula on the North Shore of Long Island. It is and is often grouped together with the other hamlets and villages and referred to jointly as "Great Neck." At the 2000 census the population was 2,756. The village is less than one square mile in size. The Village dates back to 1911 when it was incorporated as one of nine villages in Great Neck. Today, density and growing diversity characterize the area. In fact, newcomers will discover an atmosphere that is more delightfully cosmopolitan and lively than most of Long Island.
