3615 E Post Road

The year was 1818, the State of Indiana was only 2 years old, and Corydon Indiana was the state capital. James Monroe was the President, and in honor of the president, Monroe County was established. Just two years later a solid brick stagecoach stop was built along the main road heading north out of Corydon. This stagecoach stop is now 3615 E Post Road, nestled in the Grandview Hills Subdivision and holds historical significance as a stop on the underground railroad. As you wonder through this home one can you only imagine the life story of the people that entered these walls. The home has the original hard wood floors and staircase. The wood on the walls is not paneling. Each room is different, the kitchen is cherry, the dining room is black cherry, the front room is oak, the bedroom is black walnut and the upstairs wood is poplar and oak. As you look at the wood walls note there's very few knots in the wood making it old growth. This home has been properly maintained with just the right updates while maintaining its historical character.
