Vogel State Park is 24 miles away (the have a great swim beach area). Dahlonega is 35 miles away (Think gold panning and wineries!), Cleveland is 21 miles away (Babyland - Cabbage Patch Dolls - Got Grands?) The scenic railroad trip runs out of Blue Ridge to McCaysville (fun trip) - it is an hour and a half each way, but worth it!
