A Dune Acres home of notable architectural provenance sited high in the treetops with dazzling views just 250 feet from Lake Michigan is a rare prospect to regard. Built in 1936 by Hetherington Architects, it highlights familiar characteristics of the Chicago architect's earlier works. The 1933 World's Fair Cypress Log Cabin, now part of the Indiana Dunes National Park Century of Progress Architectural Historic District, in neighboring Beverly Shores is one example. The town of Dune Acres celebrates its Centennial this year; just 165 homes built in its storied 100-year history.
