Venice

County: Sarasota

Venice is known for its friendly, small-town feel, its quaint shopping center of low-rise buildings, and its charming boulevard shaded by giant oak trees that extend from downtown to the beach.  The beach extends for miles and much of it is undeveloped.  The central park along Venice Avenue is the site of concerts, arts and craft shows, and various special events.  Throughout the city are neighborhood green spaces and parks, many design features of which inspire architects and city planners.  There are many activities available: golfing, boating, fishing, or just laying on the beach.  The Venetian Waterway Park provides about10 miles of waterfront view for exercise and recreational use.
