Riverhead

County: Suffolk

The town of Riverhead is ideal for those who enjoy water sports, since this area features a number of beaches and marinas.  Common pastimes include kayaking, canoeing and boating.  One distinctive element in the town is the small neighborhood of Polish Town, named for those who settled it at the turn of the century.  Approximately 15 blocks encompass residential, commercial and industrial properties.  The main corridor is named Pulaski Street.  The East End Arts Council enriches the entire area with performing and visual arts. Riverhead's crown jewel is Atlantis Marine World, Long Island’s finest year-round aquarium.  Other attractions close to home include Riverhead Raceway, a water park, golf courses and a factory outlet center.
