Hewlett

County: Nassau

Hewlett is small, one-square-mile community on the South Shore of Long Island.  As of the 2000 Census, the population of Hewlett was 7,060.  It is included as one of the Five Towns, which includes the villages of Cedarhurst and Lawrence, the hamlets of Inwood and Woodmere, and "The Hewletts", which consist of the villages of Hewlett Bay Park, Hewlett Harbor and Hewlett Neck, and the hamlet of Hewlett, along with Woodsburgh.  The three incorporated Hewlett villages were created during the 1920s building boom.  True to their roots as desirable and exclusive enclaves for affluent residents, the three Hewlett villages consistently claim some of the highest median family incomes on Long Island and offer exceptionally attractive homes.
