Once a sweeping expanse of rich farmland, Hazlet Township nestles in northeastern Monmouth County and extends to the bay shoreline. Because its development as a suburban area began in the 1950s, many of the single-family homes that dominate this area are relatively new construction. Multi-family developments are limited, creating a hometown atmosphere of tranquil neighborhoods. Local retail facilities are abundant, and the numerous shops of Monmouth Mall are easily accessible. Preserved open space, excellent schools, and a pleasing selection of housing are all hallmarks of Hazlet. In addition to an active parks and recreation department, residents have easy access to county and state parks.
