Gulfport

County: Pinellas

Most newcomers characterize Gulfport as a sleepy beach town a step removed from the beaten path of tourism.  This former fishing village boasts strong historic and arts communities and is home to an art village of galleries, studios, and shops.  In recent years, this area has attracted a new level of interest as a residential choice.  At the same time, the quaint community has managed to preserve the charm of its uniquely culturally rich atmosphere.  Residents enjoy a white-sand beach, a lovely park, picnic pavilions, and a pier that stretches toward panoramic Boca Ciega Bay.  The Gulfport Casino is a turn-of-the-century landmark that still provides dancing and live musical entertainment.
