Gilbertsville is in Montgomery County, in the Philadelphia-Camden metro area. The population was 4,242 at the 2000 census. Gilbertsville has a small town feel with a mix of older and new retail and service businesses. The township is still somewhat rural and is one of the most beautiful areas of Montgomery County. Quiet neighborhoods mark the primarily residential township; however, Gilbertsville enjoys a significant segment of commercial activity. Pottstown Urban Transit provides bus service from Gilbertsville to the Greater Pottstown area including Coventry Mall in Chester County.
