Pleasantville is a small village located in Westchester County in New York's lower Hudson Valley. Founded in 1695, Pleasantville today is home to approximately 7000 people and covers 1.8 square miles. Pleasantville, the original home of the Reader's Digest, has also begun establishing itself as a cultural centre with the opening of the Jacob Burns Theatre and the Pleasantville Music Festival. Pleasantville's schools have been distinguished as Blue Ribbon Schools by New York State and the high school was ranked in the top 6% of high schools nationwide (ranked #191) by Newsweek.
