Poquott is a village in the town of Brookhaven in Suffolk County on the North Shore of Long Island. As of the 2000 census the population was 975. According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.6 square miles. The community name derives from Indian term for "cleared land". Poquott has changed dramatically from its earliest days to the present, the one constant has been people committed to preserving the beauty and serenity of their beautiful village
