Arverne is a neighborhood in borough of Queens, and is one of several neighborhoods nestled on the Rockaway Peninsula. Other areas include Bayswater, Edgemere, and Far Rockaway. It was initially developed by Remington Vernam, whose signature "R. Vernam" inspired the name of the neighborhood.
