Located in the town of Oyster Bay, the area that surrounds the incorporated village of Farmingdale has a long history of manufacturing and industrial activity. Although the early farms prompted the state to establish the Agricultural and Technical College in the early 1900s, most of those that remained after World War I were purchased by companies looking for manufacturing space.
