About Pleasant Valley
Located in the west-central portion of the county, Pleasant Valley includes the villages of Pleasant Valley and Salt Point. Originally settled by Quakers, local dairies and fruit farms are still active industries. Wappingers Creek still provides excellent fishing and scenic beauty, but for many decades its rushing waters were used for Pleasant Valley Mills. In more recent years, modern retail and professional centers have sprung up along Route 44, harmonizing with major housing developments in nearly every corner of the town.
