Shreveport was founded by Captain Shreve Miller. There is a high shreve named after him also, Captain Shreve High School. Shreveport is known for its riverboat Casinos that line the Red River. Some people travel to Shreveport just for these gambling opportunities. Shreveport also has a great number of festivals and events every year; including Mudbug madness (crawfish), The Red River Revel, and the Louisiana State fair, and even the Cotton Bowl.
