Bordered in three sides by water, Waterford maintains several beaches and marine facilities for both fresh and salt water. The Harkness Memorial State Park, once a magnificent summer estate on Long Island Sound, is now available for public recreation. Like many small New England towns, Waterford has a tradition of support for the arts and is home to the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center.
