The river breeze pushes through and drops the temperature fast. Spring brings trout into the shallows. Summer brings bears to the edges, snuffling for grubs, working the ground, moving on. People say the Cherokee gathered here. Ceremonies by moonlight where the river meets the creek. One night here and years of stress begin to melt away. Water over stone. Wind through old elms.
