Derek just stepped out to grab a coffee from our favorite spot up the road. The world was so calm. I was soaking up the peace and quiet as I watched the sun come up over the lake. It was nice, I got lost in that spot where the tops of our trees ended and the shore of the lake began. It wasn't hard anymore, but leaving the place we called home for so many years and trading it for this was worth it. We have everything we need here. Close to civilization, but in our own little retreat - it's almost as if no one knows we exist here, we can escape it all. I don't know what took us so long to make the decision, but once we did we knew this place was it. The sun started hitting my face. I had a book on my lap as if I intended to read, but I knew I wasn't. Stop and breathe in this morning, I know that's what always happened. I moved over to the far side of the deck on the other side of the house. I loved the morning sun, but still carried some hope that I'd read without it hitting my eyes. Derek should be back any time - our coffee place was only 5 minutes away. 'May!!', 'MAAAY!!' - I snapped out it. 'What Derek?' 'Come look at this place.' he shouted back. I walked to his office. 'Look here, lake view, 10.44 acres, City water, high speed internet, electric, close to town, secluded, paved road out front... It's everything we've been looking for to build on!' He said excitedly.
