Cabin #4 is a well-maintained wood frame building built in 1980 chalet style by the current owner. It has never been listed for sale. Electric power is underground. The cabin has a well, septic system, and propane tank and direct access to South Mac Road, which is plowed in winter and maintained year-round by Lake County. It was built chalet style in 1980 prior to the Natural Rivers Act, when the setback from to the river was 40'. That is 110' closer to the river than is now allowed under Natural Rivers zoning. It is grandfathered, and may be replaced or expanded up to 50% without a zoning variance. The main floor has a two-floor high great room above the river, a kitchen and dining area with a built-in dishwasher, a den or bedroom, a full bathroom, and a utility room on the main floor. You will see eagles, deer, otter, and grouse. The Pere Marquette is a National Wild and Scenic River, a Natural River with no dam, and a Blue Ribbon Trout Stream in Michigan. It is recognized as one of the few trout and salmon fishing rivers of this quality remaining in the nation. This river was the location of the first brown trout introduction in the United States in 1884. Rainbows were planted in 1885. Today, the river also provides world-class fishing for steelhead and Chinook salmon. The river on this parcel includes some of the best fishing water on the property.
