Located on I-75 and U.S. 41, Acworth is a small historic town situated along the scenic “Old Dixie Highway.” Acworth was originally named by railroad surveyor Lewis Grigg in honor of his beloved hometown in New Hampshire. The city was incorporated in 1860, but was almost destroyed just four years later. During General Sherman's infamous march to the sea, the city was almost completely leveled by fire. Today's Acworth is thriving and is a popular location for suburban Atlanta residents.
