Belle Terre is a village in the town of Brookhaven in Suffolk County on the North Shore of Long Island. At the 2000 census the population was 832. The village has a total area of 0.9 square miles according to the United States Census Bureau. The community was named by the developer, who hoped to create a resort for the wealthy. Miles of coastline, dozens of lush parks, and welcoming neighborhoods of lovely homes combine for an outstanding quality of life.
