West Bradford

County: Chester

West Bradford is a township in Chester County, in the Philadelphia-Camden metro area. The population at the time of the 2000 census was 10,775.  West Bradford Township was originally part of Bradford Township; organized in 1705.  It was divided into East and West Bradford in 1731.  Bradford's earliest settlers were English Quakers, most having acquired large areas of land by patent, which later were divided into farms of a hundred or more acres.  There are three historic districts on the National Register of Historic Places located within West Bradford Township: Marshallton, Northbrook and Trimbleville.  The township is served by the Downingtown Area School District, and has two elementary schools within the community.
