Fort Bragg
County:
Cumberland
West of Fayetteville, Fort Bragg is distinguished as one of the largest and busiest military complexes in the world. Fort Bragg hosts America's only airborne corps and airborne division, the Green Berets of the Special Operations Command, and the Army's largest support command. Home to approximately 10 percent of the U.S. Army's active forces, Fort Bragg is a self-contained "city" with schools, housing, shopping, churches, offices, a major medical facility, recreation, and entertainment. Fort Bragg sprawls over 251 square miles and stretches into four counties, with the training complex of Camp MacKall reaching into an addition three counties. Fort Bragg contributes an estimated $4.1 billion in annual revenue to local communities. The combination of Fort Bragg and Pope Air Force Base add $2 billion in retail sales to Cumberland County.
