About Hamden
Hamden, also known as "Land of the Sleeping Giant," was incorporated in 1786. Puritans originally settled it as a part of New Haven in the seventeenth century. It spans 33.3 square miles and is currently home to over 60,000 people. One of the highest-ranked schools in the nation, Quinnipiac University, is located in Hamden and employs many residents. The town's crime rate is below the state average and features many beautiful parks, most notably Sleeping Giant State Park.
