Somers Point, NJ Overview

Somers Point is a city in the eastern part Atlantic County, approximately 10 miles southwest of Atlantic City on Great Egg Harbor Bay.  The city has a total area of 5.2 square miles, and a population around 11,500.  Somers Point has the charm of a quaint Bay Village reminiscent of the days of great fishing and shipbuilding, which were the mainstay of old South Jersey.  It has many fine restaurants and marinas.  John F. Kennedy Park to the south offers a boat launching ramp with a beach used primarily by local residents for sports craft and windsailing.  Shore Memorial Hospital is the largest local employer and a regional healthcare facility.  Hospitality remains a major industry in this area, lining major thoroughfares with hotels, gift shops, and restaurants.  At the same time, residents appreciate the relaxed pace of a small-town atmosphere.
